Malaysian web hosting provider Exabytes announced on Monday that it has acquired Signetique IT for an undisclosed amount. Based in Singapore, Signetique offers virtual private servers, dedicated servers, cloud hosting and managed services.
In a report by TheEdgeMarket, Exabytes CEO Chan Kee Siak said that the acquisition of Signetique will give the company a 15 percent share of the Singapore hosting market as well as additional capabilities to expand its presence in Southeast Asia. Signetique will continue to operate as its own brand.
Exabytes currently has a 30 percent market share in the Malaysian hosting market. Siak said that between Exabytes, Signetique, and USONYX, a hosting company it acquired last year, it will be in a solid position to grow its overseas revenue and focus on different segments of the Singaporean hosting market.
According to the report, Exabytes has its eyes on the Indonesian market next, and through its Signetique acquisition the company acquires an immediate presence in Indonesia. By the end of 2015, Exabytes plans to launch “full-fledged hosting services” in Indonesia.
Ecommerce is another targeted area of growth for Exabytes, which makes a lot of sense considering how quickly the Asian ecommerce market is expected to grow. Indonesia is one of the countries in particular that is expected to have the most online buying power in the coming years, along with China, Japan, South Korea and India.
